The term Learning Object has been used before, and appears to have developed a bad reputation. I assume that was because of poor and inflexible implementations coming out of computer science.
We use the term to describe a reusable, evolving chunk of knowledge, that encompasses many modalities, and can ideally be used in a range of different scenarios.
A Reusable Learning Object in this sense shares a number of properties with a wiki page. In particular it has the following properties:
